Club on the Castletown River

Club on the Castletown River

The Dundalk & District Brown Trout and incorporating Castletown Salmon Anglers Association.

This Club owns all the rights on this river.

The Castletown river is a spate river and rises in Northern Ireland and flows eastwards and enters into Dundalk Bay.

The river Splits in two just above Toberona Bridge and the left river goes upstream to Newtonhamilton and creggan area. The River on the right goes up to Forkhill and beyond where it gets really narrow.

This is the river I personally grew up along and it holds great stock of seatrout from June onwards. It also gets a good run of autumn salmon in September but needs a spate to get the fish in.

The Club is very active and are always trying to improve Holding pools along the tidal stretch just below Toberona falls.

Persons wishing to join the Club have to fill out a Form which is then put before the committee for final approval and it costs €90 for the first year and €45 every year therafter.

Day permits are €30 and are available in my shop.

Prices may change at the annual A.G.M in February.
